From Ripley to Penrith (scenic route) is 100 miles in a BaseCamp riding time of 2 hours 40 minutes, plus P&T stops at Malham & Dent.
Folks could make their own way home from Penrith on the day.
Ripley to Penrith through the Yorkshire Dales looks like a really nice route.

We've come up with a plan B for this ride should the weather be 'challenging'. The weekend weather looks ok so the ride has been shortened to two days, Sat/Sun. We will be staying  in Braithwaite (nr. Keswick) for the Saturday night on a free cancellation basis (thanks 'D'). There may or not be a room available at this pub, but there are two other pubs in the village which may have rooms.
Just wondering if any of you 'workers' who couldn't do the Monday/Tuesday may be interested in a weekend only event. We will still be riding most of the Passes but avoiding the West coast road (although David and his mate have alternative plans for Sunday).

If the forecast for Monday/Tuesday changes for the better (wouldn't bank on it) we will be sticking with plan A.

To add to what Chris has posted, if the "Plan B" ride does go ahead, starting on Saturday 5th, we will still be meeting at Ripley (just North of Harrogate off the A61) for between 10:30 & 10:45.

The overnight stay will be at the Royal Oak Pub in Braithwaite or a.n.other place in/near the village, West of Keswick, just off the A66.

On Sunday 6th, options are available,
do your own thing & head home,
ride back to Ripley with Chris,
or spend 3 hours plus 2 breaks riding the West & South Lakes, ending up at Tebay, J38 off the M6.

As always, GPS routes are available to any interested parties.

The forecast for Saturday & Sunday (Plan B) does seem to be improving, feeling more positive, have transferred GPS routes to my Sat. Nav.

Good bikes, good tyres, good kit, good routes, good mates (4 out of 5 isn't bad) and sod the showers. Peter Kay has a phrase for it. Don't like the sun in my eyes anyway.  8)

If anyone would like to join us for part of the day on Saturday, you would be most welcome.

FYI, we'll be riding from Ripley through the Yorkshire Dales, with stops at Malham & Dent, crossing the M6 on the A684 at J37.
This part of the ride is about 70 miles in around a couple of hours, plus the two stops.

After that, we're heading through Kendal & Windermere to Keswick.

Looks like the weekend ride 'Plan B' is a goer. If anyone is interested, that's meet Ripley Saturday 1030-1045 and leave The Royal Oak, Braithwaite 0900-0915 Sunday.
