ESA error on a 2016 R1200RT

Post by Phil »

Recently had an ESA error on my 2016 RT. Shut off the engine and restarted, and the error went away.
Has anyone else had this error? And if you did, did it resolve itself like mine did?
Thanks

Have you tried changing the settings on the ESA? I had a similar issue with my '13 GS. The fault would come back when I tried to adjust the suspension preload - it was diagnosed as a failed motor and the whole unit had to be replaced (fortunately under warranty). Apparently it's the most common failure, usually caused by people adjusting the preload while the bike is fully loaded and sitting on the suspension (which is something I had done a couple of times). If I'm going to change the setting after I have loaded the bike up I now try and remember to put it on the centre stand first.

Not heard that one before Paggers.  I'll take heed though - thanks for letting us know.
