The Long haul: any 100-200k RT still running

Post by wethead »

I was looking through the RT thread where people were listing problems

It seems like not many have high mileage.

Are there any folks here who ride cross country often and have over 100,000 miles on an RT
Then, I would like to hear if you had any problems.

California highway patrol, has had RT’s for many years, they usually sell them when they get 160,000 miles. During that time, most have had one or two clutch changes
Funny thing is, people are standing in line to buy them

City cops use them on my neck of the woods. When they put them up for auction they are trashed. I mean trashed.

I'm at 97k ('08).  Just did second clutch replacement, and bike has had two final drive replacements (one early-on under warranty by first owner, second by me at 67k).  So some drive line issues over the 10 years, but  engine is still running like new.

Which RT?

My Oilhead had 130000miles on it and is sweet.
My Wethead has 5000 mile on it. It is OK too!
