Extended Warranty

Post by Gar01821 »

I have a 2016 RT and ride about 12K miles per year. The dealer offered me a 7 year extended warrenty for $1300. Do I need it? How reliable is an RT /

As it costs approx £400 per yr for the full BMW Insured Warranty here in the U.K., that sounds good value, assuming the products are the same?? Is it through a BMW main dealer or elsewhere? I personally consider the U.K. and Europe BMW Insured Warranty good value when you factor in the extensive full recovery package and the high cost of genuine BMW replacement parts. Reliable bike? It has its weaknesses, ie paint finish quality and associated corrosion issues, multi-function switchgear, EXUP(?) exhaust valve short lived to name a few......

I agree with Steve.  While the RT seems a bit more reliable than my old GT, £400 seems pretty good value when you consider the cost of when things DO go wrong.  Wish the rear shock was covered past 32k miles though....

In the US BMW is not offering a factory extended warranty. The dealer offered what appears to be a good insurance policy that extends the warranty from 3 years to 7. See attached.
