RAM mounts for mobile phones

Post by Lateralus »

Interested to see how others have mounted their mobile phones into their bikes. I'm looking to start using my phone more for navigation on my 2010 RT, and am keen to have it mounted centrally on the bike if possible.

I think a mate is giving me a waterproof case, which needs a RAM ball (or similar) for mounting. I've seen these for the handlebar clamp bolts, which look good, but are there any other options I should consider?

The Migsel RAM mount is one option, https://www.migsel.com/store/index.php? ... oductId=69

I used that RAM Motorcycle Handlebar Clamp Base (RAM-B-367U) on one of the handlebar mounting bolts and a short double socket arm to mount my Garmin GPS.  It's down low, between the handlebars and doesn't obscure my view of the dash at all.

Great. Is it an M8 fitting then?

Think I need a new Torx head to remove the current ones - biggest in my set at the moment is T25!

Not my bike, but found this photo, the original bolts are M8 and have a T45 Torx head.

Yes it is.  You can install it vertically in place of any of the 4 mounting bolts on either side of the handlebars, or even horizontally in place of the bolt on the inside of the handlebar.

Great, thank you all. Will update once I have it sorted, and add pictures of my own.

Could you please attach bigger photo of additional mirrors on your bike and where you bought them, thank you.

Sorry, I just grabbed that photo off the internet, as I didn't have a readily available picture of the dash/handlebars on my own RT :(

These mirrors look very similar to those in the above photo, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/for-2PC ... 62462.html

Not easy to tell from the photo above, but these could be BMW, like the ones below.

Looks like the above mirrors are for a 2003-2004 K1200RS, https://www.bmwlt.com/forums/rt-series/ ... 200rt.html, as fitted to this RT.

I've added the ram mount, 3" extension thingy, and the Ram-compatible ball fixing for the Ultimate Add-ons case I was given by a mate. Haven't tried it on the road with my phone actually in the case yet, but am very pleased with how it's all come together.

I've also bought the Optimate USB adapter which looks like it'll do a good job, and should apparently be waterproof even when in use: https://www.nippynormans.com/f800gt/opt ... sb-outlets

Look off center to right. If your phone is not much larger than an IPhone 7, you can still see left half of Tac..

I use the Ram mount from Telferizer that is listed on Nippy normans that mounts in place of the BMW roundal in the middle of the headstock. I use it for phone or TomTom
