If you have the 'fully featured' top box, with central locking, interior light etc, then yes, it should just be 'plug and play'. The cable harness from the top box plugs into a matching socket under the rear seat of the bike. It all should work straight away - no dealer enabling or coding required. I think that the 'Iconics' were originally supplied with a top box, so it should already be functional.  :)

Congrats, I have #52
The central locking does lock the top box.
First click of the alarm fob sets the central locking ... Second click sets the alarm.
I was born with nothing and unfortunately I still have most of it left.

Same as the later water-cooled (K52) bikes (and K1600s) then.  :)

Thanks for all the prompt replies.
It has the colour coded BMW box but doesn’t have the break light.
I’ll be getting it at the weekend and will update then.
Item no 4 of 100.
Thanks Again

Thanks for keeping me right - my memory was telling me that the Iconic was based on the last of the air-cooled RTs (K26).  I stand corrected !  :)

2016 R1200RT Iconic

Post by horand »

What’s the seat on the Iconic like?
I’ve had a 2016 RT base model with the standard seat.
Is the Iconic any different or more comfortable?
I understand it is standard height. I’m 5’ 10”.

Yep same seat base with different cover and stitching arrangement (which is a poor option as it puts stitching where you don't really want it, but it is still a rock hard saddle.

Iconic is now home.
Yes the top box has central locking. It even has a built in light!
Currently investigating the bluetooth functions. I have a Sena 20S headset, IPhone 5S and a Nav 5.
If I have issues I’ll be back for more advice.
Regards to All.
