1200RT LC Pannier

Post by beemerboy9 »

Anybody had a problem with pannier locking?

The barrel depresses and the lid opens when the pannier is off the bike, barrel depresses but does not release the lid when the pannier is mounted.

The other pannier is working perfectly.

Hi Beemerboy, I had the same problem with my N/S pannier. Turns out it wasn't sitting fully down on the small peg (at the top) as the black plastic surround wasn't seated correctly. (so the dealer said)

You don’t have the central locking engaged by any chance?

Yep that is what happened with mine too.  Reseated the little plastic surround on the front lug (that holds the pannier) and it's fine.  Not before I'd stripped it all down and cleaned and lubricated the mechanism though.....

Update: a liberal squirt of WD40 was required. WD40 had previously fixed a "seized" lock in the petrol filler cap - fortunately the filling station stocked some.

Thanks for your replies.
