How do I know/find what version of BaseCamp I have installed on my PC. For years now, I've only ever updated the maps and it's all worked ok, currently have CN Europe NT 2021.1 installed on both PC & Zumo 660. I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to computers and very nervous about making any changes. What does BaseCamp 4.7.3 mean, the PC uses Windows, do I need to make any changes or just leave things as they are.

Run Basecamp, go to Help - About Garmin Basecamp that will tell you the version you have.  Update can also be installed from the Help menu.

Thank you, I have BC Version 4.4.7 installed, can't see any update available from Help menu.

Found this Garmin Guru video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAoRNivm4BA

I have Garmin Express installed, when new maps are available, I always update both the device & PC. Perhaps this updates BC too. Looks like BC needs to be installed on the PC to support/view the maps without the device being connected. I use BC without the device connected to create routes then transfer them to the Sat. Nav. Everything seems to work just fine, perhaps it's best to leave well alone.

Looks like BC update can only be installed directly from the Garmin website, https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=b ... ykGnopP8l7

Are you running BaseCamp on a Windows or Mac computer.

I'm running it on Win 10 PCs.  I note that the "Install update" option has now gone from my "Help" menu, maybe it's only there when an update is available?

I spoke to Garmin yesterday, my understanding is that with Windows, BC update alerts are not shown via the "Help" menu, hence the question about Win. or Mac PC's.

This Garmin support link seems to confirm the above, https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=b ... ykGnopP8l7 scroll down to "Updating BaseCamp".

I haven't plucked up the courage to update BC on my PC, although, have made a "backup" of all my BC data.
Garmin say, "Note: Updating BaseCamp does not delete your stored data. However, before updating, you can create a backup file of your data to save on the computer or external drive."

I agree with Hors Piste.  My "update" has now gone after I installed 4.7.2

I did the update to 4.7.3 after a full backup, no issues. It's running Win10 Pro.

How did you do the update, did you download it from the Garmin website as if you were installing it for the first time or, via an update button on BaseCamp.

If directly from Garmin, does the new version just replace the previous one.

I didn’t receive any update notification for the 4.7.3 update but after seeing this thread I went exploring!
Garmin site link to 4.7.3 update always fails on downloading.

Via a ‘mirror’ site I can download the exe file but it won’t install.
I wonder if Garmin have pulled the 4.7.3 update due to issues/problems.

David, I didn’t get any notification of an available update, just explored.

I got the notification when I started Basecamp. It updates the previous version. It seems to me that it's just bug fixes and patches,  not a full upgrade. I was running v4.7.2 after a complete system crash due to a failed disk.

David  I saw it on UKGSER.  I then went to Help on basecamp and it had an upgrade option.
