What are these?

Got any questions about the BMW's R1200RT/R1250RT's onboard audio, Bluetooth or the Electrical system?

What are these?

Post by Doctor T »

Found this in the right-hand side of the fairing. Seems to have a throttle cable and a load of wires going into a box. What is this?.
The other thing is a blanked-off plug with a brown and a brown/red stripe wire. This is located towards the rear of the passenger seat. What is this?.

Looks like a supply for an additional rear aux. (DIN) socket. (Although my Camhead, it's a brown and a green/red stripe wire).

Spot on David. I do have Cruise control. Makes sense as it looks like a throttle cable going into the box. No mention of this box in the Haynes manual.
The 2 wires with the blocked off plug, could i fit a USB socket to this?

If the USB socket will accept a switched 12v supply, don't see why not.

How about we all chip in and get David a birthday gift??  Invaluable advice, always, and we seem to keep him quite busy!  I pick his when it comes to "picking brains".
