2022 RT crash bar recommendations

Post by daverj »

Hi All
Thinking of investing in some engine bars for my 2022 RT, has anyone got any recommendations or brands to avoid? Thanks in advance

Hello Dave,

if you do a search on this site for "engine guards", it'll return you with 10+ pages of opinions. The two most popular are the Ilium Works and Wunderlich brands. Personally, I installed the Ilium bars. The owner Bill posted this video of dropping his bike and the end result was a very minimal amount of damage to just the paint on the guards. Here's a link to the YouTube video:

Good luck with whichever you choose.

I have Wunderlich bars. Look good. A bit fiddly to fit.
The only thing Ihave read about them is that the chroming is not too good. No issues so far though.

I put Illium on my 2019. They have been very good, and they do work :) Only thing to point out is, mine are black and are fine, the silver ones we fitted on our fleet bikes, all had to be powdercoated after a short time due to corrosion. So not sure what the different in coverings is. The UK supplier - Mike at Sportouring.com is a top bloke as well.

Thanks for the replies, have decided to go with HEED. Mainly on the reviews and they fit with the OE driving lights.

With the Wunderlich bars you have to remount the spots. Not a problem though.

I have Ilium on my RT, and Heed on my Aprillia Tuareg. Happy with both brands.

Look good, not sure if I’ll go for the rear ones, think they look like a pair of big ears sticking out, put a picture up when yours are fitted.

Think they will blend in with the paintwork and there not full on in your face. Will be a while before I get them fitted so I'll probably forget to post a photo.
