Took my sister-in-law out for her first pillion ride in 40 years, she was nervous as we started but soon relaxed. The first words as she got off the bike was "I loved it" with an ear to ear grin.

Looks like RT is about ready for some touring - weekend weather should be around 20°C.

Just need to pick up the Barry Manilow Greatest Hits collection and I'm set for the road.

"Ooooooooooh Maaaandeeeee!!!"

I left the Island when I was 19 (many years ago) although I’ve got a large extended family group still over there.

Ah.. the Easter Scooter Rally, great fun for all! I policed about five or six of them when I was on bikes. We were always told to be gentle and not to nick many, so lots of bollockings and few tickets. Pleased you enjoyed it and it had a happy ending for you 👍

"Bless me for I have sinned..."

As much as I liked the RT my aging body somewhat disagreed with - footpeg lowering kit helped a bit but it was not enough.

I was looking at 1200 and 1250 GS but they were either way too expensive or the mileage was for me too much. And e v e r y b o d y seems to have one.

Then I found this at same dealer where I got my RT. Went to see it and that was it. This is a 2016 Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 XRT with just about every accessory there was to have. Mileage is reasonable 4300 miles ie. just under 7000 km. This should do fine for some time or even for the rest of my riding years.

Ahhh, the old Krauser panniers. I remember going to Norwich to meet my girlfriend years ago. When I arrived I noticed one pannier missing. It had apparently fallen off on a roundabout near Kings Lynn and luckily a kind person picked it up and handed it to Kings Lynn Police. Those rear locks were very flimsy and reinforced with tie downs every trip after.
