My Winter Hack

Post by EasyRider »

This is the bike i use over the winter. It's a 2013/13 Honda Varadero 1000. It has just hit 30k miles and is like riding an armchair on wheels :)
I dont like using the top box as the bike is very top heavy. The V twin motor is a great engine and the bike pulls like a train even with my wife on the back.
If Honda had used a lighter frame and lower exhausts, this bike would have sold better as the top heavy weight put many off. It's a great mile muncher.
I get between 42 and 47 mpg with pillion and panniers, on the welsh A & B roads.

A great bike, I was working for Honda when they were first produced. Generally very underated as the fuel consumption could be a bit fearsome if ridden hard, but good fun, and the handling was far better than expected.
They were top-rated in RIDE magazine for pillion comfort too.

Very popular in Greece, as we’ve seen from our travels down there. 👍
