I think anything that motivates us to get us out is a good idea. Maybe the Admins could rename the Ride Reports section which is a little underused to Ride Reports & Ideas with popular ideas being given a sticky.

I still get out every week at least once. But use Squeak as he is my winter hack.
Try and do between 50 and 100 miles and meet up with people we know.
normaly out for about 3 & 5 hours depending who we meet up with.
We are only out on the bike in the week, never the weekend.
We enjoy our trips over to Fowlers in Bristol, can be there for a couple of hours or more.
They have a good cafe on the top floor. But if your like me, there is a lift.

So i've bought the lower peg brackets from Aliexpress for £30 delivered.
Got a pair of bar risers for £20 secondhand but new delivered. Think there the cheap copy ones.
Was going to get the rear lower peg brackets, but wife said she was ok with them stock hight.

Congrats with your new bike. Did you make a test ride before you bought the bike? If not you probably didn't ride it at all yet 8-) .......

Not tested this one yet, only from the front driveway to the garage, did ride the other one i was going to buy.
At the moment Artie is a very dear garage ornament.

When i first got Artie i found the original owners email address in what paperwork i was given.
I sent him an email letting him know i was now the new owner of there old RT.
Well yesterday i got a very nice email back from him, giving me a bit of history about him with the RT.
Sadly he had to sell the RT because of the weight when moving the bike about.

When i was thinking about my next bike, I had a couple in mind.
The R1200RT, R1200RS and KTM1290 Super Adventure S.
The first one i sat on was the KTM, Both the wife and I liked it.
But I already had the Varadero, so i did not really want the same style of bike
I then sat on a R1200RT and then got to test ride one.
Apart from a polished seat :? we both liked it.
I never tried the RS as i knew i wanted the RT.
But today i did get to sit on the RS, and i now know i made the right choice getting the R1250RT.

So the Panniers project is finished.
Next job is to remove the clocks and replace the front part with the new oem part i bought.
My rider lower foot peg brackets are here from China. £30 and a week to get here.

I have some other small bits on order waiting to come.
Top box brakelight.
R&G second skin for the clocks.
Triboseat covers for both seats.
Rear brake pads.

The clocks front is now changed for the new one.
I did have to pop out and buy a small Torx set as the torx screws are a T6 and the smallest i had was T8.
I also had the grey service light come on. With google help I found it was because of the date & time i did not reset.
Just fitted the lower footrest brackets i got from China. WOW just that small amount lower feels so much better.

So with the cold spell we just had last week, it killed to battery on Artie.
The dealer was kind enough to post out a new battery to me.
It came today, but i wont be fitting it on Artie.
Bloody Royal Mail have damaged it.
It may not look much, but i'm not fitting it on a bike that just cost me over £10k.
Sent the dealer the same photos and he is sending me another one.

So over the pass couple of weeks, i have been buying some accessories.
Some from eBay and some from AliExpress.
So I think I now have everything i need or want to go onto Artie ( just the miles to add now).
I added it all up this morning and was a little shocked at how much i've spent.
When you buy a bit at a time it can soon add up without you knowing (or the wife :o )
The same thing happened to my Gen2 Hayabusa, It got to nearly £5k of extra's and upgrades.
But with Artie, i won't be doing the same. I've just bought the normal things.
Crash Bars, Sat-Nav, Lower Pegs, Bar Risers ect ect. You know the sort of things.
Just need to wait now for the parts to get here. Some from AliExpress won't be here till January.

Sounds like you are just about where you want to be - I do that then change the bike, this time round I'm trying to be good, but I'm already failing if truth be told

I think its my riding style that has changed a bit. I now like the sit up an beg to the head down ass up.
I took some basic measurements the other day, and between the lowerd footrests, seat and handlebars (once risers are fitted) there is not much in it between the RT & Varadero. The Varadero handlebars are a bit higher.
As i have bad knees, having the RT seat in its high position with the lowerd footrest, opens up my knee angle to 90 degrees or their abouts, which is the same as the Varadero.
I will see how i get on once i start riding Artie and if i feel i need it, i will do the GS handlebar swap with bar risers.
