Top box lock

Post by Ribcracker »

I’ve just bought the BMW top box for my RT.
It came with no lock, so I ordered one and put it in myself.
The bike has the keyless ride central locking, so I can unlock it from the switch, but not with the key, the lock does not rotate. It just functions as a button to open the catch.
Is it supposed to rotate?
Have I inserted it incorrectly?
What if the battery was flat, how would I open the top box?

Hi

I did this when changing bikes thought I would change the lock over. Remembered to remove the lock from the barrel before part exchangeing at the dealer and handing them the keys. New bike recoded the lockto the key or so I thought Interted it and like you it didnt work had to remove the inner case to remove the lock again. :!: found one of the leaves was not quite flat about 1 mm out but enough to stop it working relaced the leaf with the same number but a new one not used and now all is fine. :|

If you have a bad wafer for one of your key slots you can just leave it out and the lock will still work fine. I did that on one of my top boxes with no problems at all.
