I will continue to use the higher specification oil which was originally recommended by BMW for the Twin Cam Models.

The 15w-50 viscosity range is not one of those recommended in the 2012 RT Rider's Manual.

Has anyone seen any signs of Shell oils replacing Castrol at your BMW Dealer.

Well down here in the South all I have seen is Castrol Oil still. I have also done a nerd search to see if Shell have produced a 5W40 oil yet for the LC bikes and have found nothing.

Hi David, same here my Kent  local Dealer still stocks Castrol  only,  just  last week I  checked out the oil prices , and their racks were full of this brand only  -  so much for the release that they were changing over to Shell.  I should have asked about it whilst I was there.    ....... ::)

I once remembered an announcement that Uvex  were going to be producing BMW helmets.  That never happened either. Here in the East Midlands its still all Castrol.

Shell do produce Advance 4T Ultra Scooter,

http://www.shell.com/global/products-se ... ooter.html,

Available viscosity grade: SAE J 300 5W-40. Formulation meets: API SN, JASO MA2.

Castrol Power 1 Racing SAE 5W-40, API SL / JASO MA2 is recommended for LC Models.

Weather permitting, I will be taking my RT to Cooper BMW Sunderland next week for an Annual Service.

I will be supplying Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10w-50 Fully Synthetic at a cost of £10 per litre.

I bought 8 litres of Castrol Power 1 Racing 5W-40 from Germany worked out including VAT and delivery £7.77 / litre.

However this is even a better deal
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-70-L-Castro ... 19fdada408

Works out as £6.71 / litre.

Looks like it's just packaging, the specification (API) is actually higher than that of the Castrol.

I seem to remember speaking to OPIE Oils http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ & they confirmed this.

Thanks Peter, I don't use ebay & prefer to deal with OPIE using their "Price Beater" offer to match the Moto-Oil price.
