Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart

Post by David. »

Having seen a pair of Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmarts on an RT yesterday,
I'm drawn towards them because of the tread pattern across the width of the tyre.

Image

To date, they haven't received any votes in the Poll.

Has anyone had any experience with these tyres?

Had 3 sets of these on my old RT (2005). Excellent for my money. Wore well and gave confidence in the wet and dry. Seemed to always get them for a good price. Always changed as pairs but front would have lasted longer.

Looking at the costs & tread patterns etc., have decided to give the Roadsmarts a go.

Yes, I got a pair fitted. Haven't used them yet, so can't comment, however, if they are good enough for the local Plod, they are good enough for me.

Don't forget the £30 fuel voucher now on offer.

Now that could change a few people's mind as to choice of tyres, + £30 fuel voucher that's an incentive as well. I don't need to change my z8 only got 3600 on them and no riding for a while yet, bummer always like a good deal.

Just checked the tread depth to the TWI on both tyres from new, Front = 3mm & Rear = 6mm, will monitor the wear after our 2,000 miles trip to Germany,
starting with 4,682 miles on the clock.
Levisp wrote:Depth tread front 4 mm back 7 mm. Tread wear indicator is 1 mm. So depth to TWI front 3 mm back 6mm.

On Pirelli Angel GT's.

Having covered 2,178 miles in Germany, the tread depth to the TWI on the front is now 2.5mm (0.5mm wear) & the rear is 3mm (50% worn).

The tyres held up very well in high ambient temperatures (max 39 degC), cruising on Autobahns at 140 km/hr plus lots of twisty roads leaving very little in the way of "Chicken Strips".
Most of the riding was done 2 up with luggage.

Based on the above, I will be fitting a new pair before our 2,788 miles trip to Norway & keeping the others as "Part Worns".

New pair of tyres fitted today at 6,860 miles, front 3.5mm to TWI & rear 5.5mm, there may be some manufacturing tolerances in tread depths or my measurements.

All set for 2,800 miles to Norway & back.

Just need to claim my £30 Fuel Voucher.
