What have you got planned for 2015?
Re: What have you got planned for 2015?
Seven weeks to go until 63 of us will be arriving in Zell Am See for a 6 day stay. The snow on the Grossglockner at the Bikers Nest is presently about 4 ft deep in places. Any suggestions on tyre choices?.

Canadian RT rider here....sending an envious hello to all you riders in Europe. I rode 5 countries on an RT1200 about 4 years ago. Marvellous...and Stelvio was the real climax of the trip. Marvellous riding, great people throughout and motorcyclists always seemed to be welcomed by everyone ! I yearn to return and am very jealous to read about your planned rides in Europe folks !

Re: What have you got planned for 2015?
Yankee checking in, nothing quite so exciting as some of the other trips in here! Among various smaller last-minute trips I'm sure I'll end up on, my big trip for 2015 will be a trip with a couple friends up to the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec, Canada. Somewhat ashamed to say it'll be my first time outside the US in my 30-something years, in spite of having grown up in Maine. Turning up to be about 1500 miles in four days, I figure it'll either be one of the best vacations we've had or one of the most humbling as we realize our bodies aren't built for that kind of strain anymore. I've heard the scenery on the north side of the St. Lawrence is far more exciting than south, but that just wasn't in the cards for this year - maybe next.
My biggest dilemma ahead of the trip will be whether to hold out hope that Givi finally starts shipping the adaptor plate to mount my V46 top case on my '14, or bite the bullet and go for the real(ly expensive) BMW case...

You can save some cash by buying the pre 14 BMW box. Very high quality and you can get the lock coded to the ignition key. And you don't end up with a lump of ugly plastic bolted to the rear rack.

Would GS tyres be an option?
I have to travel along 2 single country lanes, both of which are hilly, to get to & from my house & they never get gritted. In the past the only way I've got my bike along these tracks in the snow is to drop the pressures. It really helps with traction if your stuck. (Oh and turn your ASC off or you'll never get moving!)

Noted, if I get stuck at the top.Chad wrote:

YES. Book says they weigh empty, the same as the new 2014 type but they are heavier. Same size though.
Re: What have you got planned for 2015?
I'll second that- I've tried one on mine. Putting a pre '14 box on however means that you'll have to go back to the dark ages & use those old key things to lock the box...

Its the central locking bit that hikes the price up. You can get the 2014 model without it but you also loose the option of fitting the extra brake light. Not quite sure what the price difference is.
