Yes. As long as you have your receipt.  I can understand them not being covered on extended warranty as that is really to cover failure of major components. I cant think of anything you can buy in a BMW dealer that isn't covered by a 2 year warranty. All the clothing is even gloves.

Exide Batteries, http://webshop-cdn.tecdoc.net/exide/home.jsp, this link can be used to search for a replacement Battery.

Putting the BMW OE Number in the Article Number & selecting "OE Number" from the dropdown list comes up with GEL 12-19 EAN 3661024034074.

Euro Parts have a Branch 1.5 miles away, Online and Click & Collect price is £74.40,

Apparently, Batteries can suffer "catastrophic" failure without warning, it's the luck of the draw.
