BMW R1200RT/R1250RT Forum

Can anyone in the UK recommend a simple mains powered mini compressor. It will only be used for inflating tyres and maybe blow drying the bike. I have no idea of what spec to look for or where to look. I have tried EBay and Machine Mart but am pretty clueless to be honest.

Baz I'm not sure I can help you but for what is worth, any small tank compressor would be fine for tyre inflation. However whether that would be efficient as a bike dryer I doubt it. I bought a few years back an Airforce Blaster bike dryer, expensive but works a treat. I see now that there are cheaper ones on the market and I'm sure they would work just as well. A purpose built bike dryer is made for the job, it will delivery large volume of filtered air, which will safely just blast the water out of all those impossible places which would only otherwise only dry by evaporation. A clean dry bike will not corrode. Some people use an air compressor or god help me a leaf blower. A mate of mine has just bought the smaller handheld Airforce Blaster and says that it so much better than his compressor. The efficiency of the bike dryers is because they push out a larger volume of air, its this volume rather then pressure that makes them so darn good. However there is one downside, they are noisy.

Yup expensive but I look at it as an investment. Good tools looked after last forever. Look at it this way. A £200 dryer should give you a minimum of 10 years of service, so costing £20 a year. I think thats worth it to keep corrosion at bay. However if I lived somewhere hot all year then I wouldn't bother and let that hot yellow thing that you occasionally see in the sky do the job.

I have been considering something for this purpose and for drying off my tractor. The best reviews I have come across is on the Airforce Blaster, but the price was putting me off, but have decided to take the plunge.

Got talked out of it when ordering, the missus was standing over me. Maybe it was a blessing as my spaniel burst an artery in his nose, first call to vet 179€ second call 79€ Just got him back for the 3rd time more stitches see what the bill is tomorrow  :clap: I shall do a bit of praying and hope he keeps the cost down. It's alway a toss up which is the most important dog or bike. In the wife's view she would save a dog before an human, so my bike would not even enter into the equation lol

Airforce blaster is for drying dogs never heard of anybody using it to dry a bike.

Got permission and now purchased. Just out of hospital and as a moral booster it was delivered on my return home, yippee.
