quick query,
If the mirrors fit through a gap in the traffic whilst filtering will the panniers fit too? Or is the bike wider at the rear?

That's the 'mantra' I use whilst filtering ;-) (the mirrors only just fit through my shed door, loads of room for the panniers

You would need to be a riding hero to just get through a gap with the mirrors but catch the panniers as they are only about 1 inch wider each side. In the real world, if the mirrors go through so do the panniers.

Yes, like the "Cat's Whiskers", if the front end goes through, the rear will follow.
However, it's worth noting that the width of the mirrors V's the width of the panniers are at different heights.

In my defence, I do spend quite a bit of time filtering whilst attending incidents, so hardly a riding hero.

Service bikes do have narrower panniers than Joe Public ones.

albeit I filter with the 'extras' on the service bike, I know my own bike and filter quite well through stationary traffic quite well.

If my memory serves me the width of the panniers is 42inches (not that you ride with a measuring tape) and 43inches with rear bar protection, not as wide as a Smart Car, but much quicker. I remember somebody from UKGSER Site saying about the Smart Car, Pope I think it was? I love them and gives me a little more confidence.

Just measured my LC. Mirrors 39in, Panniers 37in. So if the front goes through the back will surely follow, probably.

I wonder if the journalists review would go something along the lines that all the black is a nice colour maybe marine blue would be better suited. The pannier width should be considered when slow manoeuvring along jetties and public walkways however jettisoning panniers will not prevent deflection.
