So not only do you get stung for something that makes very little if any difference to power or performance (looking at the charts), the insurance boys will make a killing as well.  Want ultimate power, buy a 1000 RR.

So looking at Pope's 98.2bhp to 116.7bhp = 19% increase and 78.8ftlb to 90.0ftlb=15% increase in your book is little difference to power  ???

It depends who's chart you look at.  I recall one mag finding no difference, most found 115 straight out of the box. It's all to do with the kit setup apparently. I swapped from a 160bhp K1600. My RT feels just as fast. and grunty.

Same here when I swapped from a Multistrada.  The RTLC FEELS more grunty, even if it isn't...

6 months on, and i have absolutely no regrets with the remap. My RT is simply a much nicer bike to ride at any speed now.[/size]
It's so smooth, with no flat spots and instant power everywhere.

As for insurance? if my BMW dealer cant see the remap (which he cant),then i'm sure an insurance company isn't gonna see it.  :ninja:

BTW, i had my Ducati Hilltopped a few weeks later as well. Oddly, i didn't get anywhere near the same increase in BHP or Torques as my RT at the top end.
But, it sure did give a massive improvement to fuelling and low/midrange power delivery and smoothness....https://youtu.be/5kKPy7mtocI

Out of interest does this re-map apply for just one of the riding modes?  I would assume just road or dynamic and not rain?  Peter

I only use the Dynamic Mode, and never even tried the Rain mode. so i'm note sure how the remap effects the other modes to be honest.

Hi, I take it this was a remap of the ECU and not done with a power commander, I thought your power gains were quite impressive and would like to have a remap as well. I would like to have both the dynamic and road modes done leaving the rain mode standard, I contacted a local company called Track Electronics here in Norwich but they said they would not do it because the software was to unstable? any other make of motorcycle they can do but not BMW 1200 RT,  Do you have contact details for Hilltop Motorcycles? cheers

Hi, I contacted Hilltop motorcycles today ref a remap they quoted me £350 takes aproximatly 2 1/2 hours  but said it would affect all riding modes I was hoping to leave rain mode standard, apparently they have done about 800 rt's with no problems. cheers

Beat me to it  ;)

I dont care what this or that dyno test says, I know this depends on various perimeters. But my RT is now the sweetest example i've ever ridden.  be

They have remapped 800. That's probably more LCs  than have been sold in UK.  Take that with a large pinch of salt along with all the claims. Pope is obviously happy with the results but many have noticed none.

I have been around RTs since 1997 and it's only been in the last year or so I have heard of anybody remapping them and then always the LCs. Maybe he meant to say 80 or 8.
