RTLC Remapped

Had my RTLC Remapped by Hilltop MC in Leicestershire yesterday….and…..i’m very pleased with the result.
More usable power and torque through the entire rev range, and especially the extra 30ftlbs between 2000 – 4000 rpm.


My bike pulls like a train right from tickover to the red-line, brilliant.
The fuelling is now spot-on, as it was running lean before.


Numbers (at the wheel) before the Remap
98.2bhp
78.8 ftlb Torque


And after…nice and smooth curves and a big dollop of low and midrange Torque. 
116.77bhp
90.07ftlb Torque

the remap costs £360, unless you can agree a special deal. However, I think its the best upgade that you can do.
And as a bonus, fuel econemy has also increased slightly,

My average was 48mpg on the journy up (mostly fast M/Way for 120miles).
Return average was 48.5mpg (with a very strong headwind), only a very small gain yes, but the perfomance gains are truely excellent.

I'd say the fact the economy hasn't gone backwards is pretty impressive!

That's a huge gain on the bhp & torque, but why is it so expensive to remap a bike? It's never cost me more than £200 to have my cars remapped. Although cost aside, the bike must be rapid with such an increase! Sounds like a good idea for a Christmas present:-)

£360 may seem expensive, but it includes 3 x Dyno runs and he has to recoup his huge outlay on all the IT and tech.


My BMW cars have all cost me between £200 - £450 for a quality remap though, and thats without Rolling Road/ Dyno time.


Gonna get my Ducati remapped next week also....

The most noticeable improvement I've ever experienced through a remap was an my trusty old Discovery TD5. Cost £160 and totally transformed it. The least noticeable was on my E93 bmw (3.0i). I think that cost me £200 but got a full refund because I wasn't happy with the gains. Seriously thinking of getting my LC done though now the gains have been confirmed & the company recommended:-)

Cost me more than that getting my hillclimb car rolling roaded but new jets added to the cost it was a pinto on dellortos. Chalk & cheese though 118bhp to a fine 158bhp this was the difference between a ported 160bhp spec engine on recommended jetting and 3d mapped ignition to having it optimised. Regularly faster than similar cars with 175bhp kitted zest ex engined cars. As the hilltop website says a standard map has all sorts of safety built in and will be a 1 map fits all some gains will vary! Sounds very worthwhile (always want more when not riding/driving)

Does make you wonder why BMW don't get it as good out the factory! Or is it that they don't want to compromise reliability!


Was speaking to a dealer today who suggests the glut of LC bikes is the result of riders returning to air cooled twins?


Or is it the end of so many BMW finance deals?

A glut of LCs, that's a new one.  And owners going back to air cooled ones.  I wonder if the dealer who told you that has a shed full of them to shift.

LC riders returning to air cooled RT's?! Can't for the life of me see why. I'm a big fan of the air cooled twin cams but having ridden one back to back with my LC I would seriously miss the power & sheer refinement of the LC. I would however enjoy the better wind protection on the older RT!
