Way too complicated a DIY task for me.  My favourite tool is a Barclaycard.

I'm hoping somebody has found an after-market solution!

Nippy Normans now offering aftermarket locking kit http://www.nippynormans.com/k1200r/wund ... r1200rt-lc
Not cheap, but Wunderlich is usually good quality gear.
Link doesn't seem to work for some reason.
Just look on Nippy Norman site (they seem to have it listed under the K1200R for some reason, but it's definitely R1200RT LC)

Here is the correct link, you have to remove the "s" from the https:

Richard come on you need to do aDave workshop to see if you can get your hands dirty and give you the simple skills needed. YouTube has a lot of video to get you started, checkout Delboys Garage - simple skills 😀

Not the most elegant of solutions.  I could go for it though, given its non-invasive design.

Insert large screwdriver between frame and plastic mounting.  Lift up destroying the plastic.  Remove GPS.  Estimated time to complete work.  15 seconds.  Brilliant.

I'm wondering how hard it would be to get a generic central locking actuator and add a metal or plastic tab that slides out over the release clip things at the top of the mount. There are examples of people using cam lock barrels to do the same thing with a key, but it would be nicer to have it lock and unlock with the central locking.

What I'm talking about is shown and explained here

Just use a central locking actuator to push that lock tab in and out instead of the keyed lock barrel.

Pretty sure this was posted up in one of the other threads on this topic. There someone drew attention to the nut at the bottom of the arm. Should be the work of a few seconds to remove that.

I guess in the end nothing is going to deter a determined thief. These things are just intended to stop the opportunist 'snatch and run' type. Personally if I was going to go down this road I would do the modification that was posted in the other thread rather than have a bracket sitting over the top. At least that way it's not altering the appearance of the bike.

It's just popped up on Nippy Norman's website too.  Sold out!  Price is £89 which is not too unreasonable given the hours, faffage, and potential damage I could do using Octatonics much neater solution.  Planning to email Wunderlich just to see if our eyes are deceiving us......  or whether it really is that easy to defeat.
