BT audio has a hissing background as soon as NAV V is in the cradle...

Got any questions about the BMW's R1200RT/R1250RT's onboard audio, Bluetooth or the Electrical system?

BT audio has a hissing background as soon as NAV V is in the cradle...

Post by fmantek »

Is anyone else experiencing the following:

-> audio via the RT using an USB Stick

Audio sounds fine over speakers and Bluetooth.

-> Insert Nav V into cradle

Audio still sounds fine over the speakers.

Over bluetooth, using a Sena 20S, i get, even on the unconnected AUX channel, a high/hissing noise. Like in the old days, when you had your amp wired badly and the fridge went on....

Is this considered "state of the art"? Should i disconnect the Nav V Audio?

It may not be the answer you're looking for Frank but there are only two solutions - get a BMW helmet, with BMW bluetooth or fit an Autocom.  The BMW stealers will tell you that no other bluetooth system will work properly with an audio-equipped RT and in my experience they're right.  The only saving grace of being forced down the BMW helmet +BT route (at £750, if you're lucky) is that the helmets are fab and the BT faultless.

The stealer will also probably tell you that Autocom won't work - my dealer claimed they'd had owners describe it as a "virus".  My own experience is that autocom is easily installed and works perfectly.

Oh, for an honest dealer...
