Connecting heated gear

I'm connecting the power cord for Gerbing jacket & gloves..... There's not much room to run the positive cable across the battery. Can I connect the positive to the "jumping post"? I read somewhere w/ CANbus (which I'm clueless about)...... you have to connect the cable directly to the battery.

Why not go directly to the accessory sockets.  If you can't safest place is directly to the battery.

Looking at this photo & page 138 of the Rider's Manual for Jump-Starting, don't see why the "jumping post" cannot be used,
providing that the lead goes directly to the positive terminal of the battery.

The red wire in the photo which is bolted to the "jumping post", was used to power a horn, as per this thread from BMWLT,

You can't hook more than one heated accessory to the accessory port. Not sure why, but when I went to buy a cord to connect to the port, it states that because of CANbus, the accessory port will not supply power to more than one heated piece of gear.  I have a jacket & gloves.

What is the current draw (Amps) for the Jacket & Gloves.

This website, http://www.webbikeworld.com/heated-moto ... -liner.htm, suggests 6.4A for the Jacket & 2.2A for the Gloves.

The BMW / Hella / DC Cigarette Adaptor Plug, http://gerbing.co.uk/bmw-hella-dc-cigar ... -plug.html, shows a fuse rating of 8A.

"Using the optional BMW/HELLA plug. Gerbing can also plug into any 12v outlet on your bike, ATV, etc. using the BMW/Hella accessory plug.
If your vehicle has a CanBus system installed, we recommend using a battery harness to bypass the CanBus system."

The Onboard Sockets are rated at 10A.

I'm using the FZ-1 fuzeblock to power and fuse my accessories as it provides permanently powered or ignition switched outputs. The supply for this is wired directly to both terminals on the battery  :)

Providing you do not exceed 10 amps then I cannot see why you cannot connect more than one piece of heated gear. I'm sure I've seen splitter leads for this purpose. After all the system cannot see what you have plugged in, just what the load is. Or am I missing something ?

I had no trouble getting the cable connected to the battey - my dealer did it (no charge)

The photo also shows what looks like a Battery Charger lead with SAE connector bolted directly to the Battery terminals.
