I've been provided with some local knowledge on the state of 2 Bridges on the proposed route, one on the A6 at Eamont Bridge & the other on the B6260 at Hoff.
Both these Bridges are currently closed, awaiting structural inspection/repair.

Hopefully, come June, these Bridges will have reopened, if not, obviously, a diversion/alternative route will have to be taken.

Have spoken to the New Inn at Hoff & found this on their FB Page,
"The B6260 is closed for essential drainage work between 8am and 5pm after that everything is open as normal." https://www.facebook.com/newinnathoff

I was told that they expect the work to be completed by the end of March 2016, there are no problems with the Bridge itself.

Hopefully the A6 at Eamont Bridge will have a high priority, if not, only a minor diversion will be necessary, http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/eLibrary/Cont ... 095657.pdf

Chaps,

I'm going to have to pull out of the Center of Britain trip :grave:

Circumstances have conspired against me and basically screwed up my whole year and most of next.  I hope to hear all about it and see the snaps when you all get back...

Looks like progress is being made with the temporary road closures at Hoff & repairs to Eamont Bridge.

From New Inn at Hoff FB Page, "The highways road closure has moved beyond us. We are now perfectly accessible from the Appleby side."

Cumbria County Council say, "Progress was made again over the weekend (5th / 6th March) towards repair of the North pier and re-opening of the bridge."

Eamont Bridge (A6) has reopened, therefore, no diversions to the planned route should be necessary.

It has been confirmed that, "The bridges at Eamont and Hoff are now open, so no problems for the ride."

For various reasons, some people have had to withdraw from this trip.

The hotel may still have some rooms available if anybody wants to book up.

The trip will still go ahead, weather permitting.

We're still up for it.
It's a splendid looking hotel.
And the weather will be fine.

Extending the weekend to include Sunday night has been suggested, Shirley & I are now booked for 3 nights.

This will allow us to have a leisurely day out on Sunday, heading North to Selkirk is one option.

I'd like to thank Barry & Anne for joining us at the weekend based in Haltwhistle, Shirley & I both enjoyed ourselves.

It was a very successful trip, hopefully there may be more of the same in the future.
