New (to me) 2008 R 1200 RT

Post by hbjones »

Thanks for letting me join this group. I don't know if it is expected or customary to make an introductory post, but here is mine.

I just picked up my new (to me) Biarritz Blue 2008 R1200RT yesterday in Orange County, CA (22,600 miles on the odometer) and promptly rode her home to Phoenix, AZ. I am the bike's 3d owner now. The bike performed great on the road trip home, but I almost froze my tail off despite long-johns, heated grips, and heated seat. I am still devouring the various R1200RT boards and posts, so I apologize in advance if I ask something only a newbie would ask.

You will be delighted to hear that you have the switch gear that isn't constantly talked about in here. You have the non failing type. Welcome..

Can't disagree with that, I preferred the earlier kit.  Unfortunately it couldn't  be adapted for all the extra functions.
To be fair it's only taken 5 YEARS to develop.

Harold,

Congrats! I'm a newbie as well. Check out my post. We have had very similar experiences with pretty much the same R1200RT. Here's to good times ahead!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

According to the map, it looks there are a couple others in the Phoenix-metro.

I'm still scouring through all the threads...tons of great information.
