Intro - Switching from Burgman 400 to R1200RT

Post by elau180 »

Hi ALL,

I just made the move from a Burgman 400 to the R1200RT. I purchased a 2010 in Polar Metallic, with matching side cases and the 29L top case. Does not have the TPMS, audio system, ASC. I have Sargent Low Heated on order to help with the stand over height.

Wow elau180,
That's quite a step-up in hp!!!! When I had my Beemer K13GT, I occasionally borrowed the wife's 400 Burgman to nip into town etc. Quite a difference is an understatement ! Doubtless you'll enjoy the R1200RT, but take care with the handling on bigger wheels and engine!

My commute over 30 miles now is primarily 70 to 80 mph vs 50 to 60 mph, making the r1200rt more comfortable than the burgman 400. The burgman runs between 6000 and 7000 tpm at those speeds.

Don't worry Elau.  If you fit an after-market weather protection kit to the RT, it'll look just like a Burgman anyway...

Not even after market. Genuine BMW accessory.  Got so much ribbing over mine it's now loose in the shed.

I've got both. Best of both worlds.
Two different bikes, two different roles. Both equally good at what they do.

Love them dearly ;) ;)

I would love to keep both. But space and $$ will not allow. So when it warms up a bit the b400 will be up for sale.
