Found this on Google, seems excellent value and is sold in the UK by Suttons - just wondered if anyone has any experience of this brand?

Found a pic on here posted by Omnione of a shad box fitted to his bike - it sits quite a bit further back than OEM  - too far to offer support for a pillion?

A box like that, especially the 50 ltr one is going to cause stability problems at high speed for sure.

My daughter's boyfriend has one on his Bandit - not as big as this but the same brand.

Does a job but there's a reason why they're so much cheaper...

I think SWMBO sat on the back in front of it will cause stability problems at high speed too! not

Nope. normally the opposite effect as the bike is made for two. That's if you can persuade them to sit still of course.

So, since I want to respray the lid and its only going to be used about once a year, has anyone got a 49L OEM top box for sale?

Morning All ,I have the 50 litre box, it comes with an adaptor kit(aluminium) which bolts on to original bike frame, box then attaches same as original box,key turns one way to open or other way to unlock and remove, quality is really good, sits in just the right place for back support, according to my wife ,apparently Shad makes boxes for BMW !! I personally think it is a very good alternative to OEM and a fraction of the price, I bought mine from here, they did not have in stock but was shipped direct fromShad received same week

Ok, I have taken the plunge and ordered the Shad top box with blue coloured lid, inner bag and adapter plate, all for the sum of £337.52 inc VAT - I will report back with pics and info when it arrives

The Shad top box has finally arrived - the delay was due to the coloured lid I ordered not being in stock.

It was really well packed and seems to be excellent quality. I have taken some pics to show the colour match between the Shad lid and the OEM blue of the panniers, not too bad at all I think.

I have also tried to show in the pics the quality of the box and the very similiar locking/release mechanism to the earlier OEM box. Overall I am really impressed with the quality and what I got for my money which for the £337 I spent included the 50l box, coloured lid, mounting plate and inner bag.

I'll fit it to the bike on the weekend and take some final pics.

When I bought my RT new to me, it had a Shad 50L and the owner had added the SHAD LED brake and turn signal kit. I think it makes the box even better, but I have taken it off because I had a BMW 49 L from my previous RT.

I Recommend the brake light retrofit kit with quick disconnect.

I didn't like the mounting plate of the SHAD.

If anyone's interested in purchasing a SHAD 50 with LED brake/Turn, let me know.

Finally got around to fitting the top box, have shown a few pics of the process. To be honest the instructions were about the same as some IKEA furntiture but sorted it out over a cup of coffee and a digestive. ReallY pleased with the result and the colour match and don't regret not buying OEM.
