Post by yorkieboy »

Hi all

Is there an adapter plate suitable for letting me use my old R1100 topbox on my 2007  R1200

Not to my knowledge,  The 1150 rack was not horizontal So it would have been very difficult to adapt it and I don't think anybody tried.

What does the R1100 rack/plate look like, could one be cut down/adapted then bolted to the R1200 carrier.

I had a Givi adapter plate & V46 Top Case on my 2007 RT, might be an alternative to a BMW Box.

This is the Givi E193 Adapter Plate,

and fitting instructions.

This looks like a very good price on a Givi V46 Top Case, £131.05 with FREE UK delivery,

That's the plate I have on my '11 TC along with an ageing Givi E360. Plenty big enough for me on the rare occasions that I use it. Don't do 2 up touring these days and mainly use the topbox as secure storage for tankbag when the bike is left unattended. Waterproof and robust enough and no instability issues although I must admit it is a case of function over form but that doesn't bother me.

This has gone a bit off track.  The question was how to fit the 1100/1150 top box to a 2007 bike.  The box itself is not flat underneath with lower sections which fitted each side of the rack. The space between the two sections is narrower than the 07 rack. So it's a no go I'm after.

Yorkieboy, I'm sorry not to have been able to come up with a solution to fit your R1100 TopBox to your R1200.

The reason for posting about the Givi Plate & Box was to offer what I thought would be a reasonable alternative if you weren't successful with the original question.

Could this BMW: Rack system for top case R1150RT, R1150RS, R1100RS be used in some way with spacers etc.,
