Which one to buy?

Post by AlohaRider »

Aloha!  Looking for advice: Buying a 2005-2010 in the next couple of weeks.  Assuming that all of the following bikes are in the same condition, same options, etc., which one would you buy?  Consider these three variables only for this exercise (year, mileage and price).  2009 looks like the best deal, but the 2005 has such low mileage (I know, they last forever so maybe this doesn't matter as much).  Been riding for 25 years, have previously owned K1100 and R1100.  Will ride about 10,000 miles per year and plan on keeping the bike forever.  Thanks!
2010 with 85K miles for $8000
2009 with 60K miles for $6000
2005 with 22K miles for $7200
2006 with 34K miles for $7500

Would steer clear of the 2005 and 2006. Both have servo brakes. The 05 has done a lot of sitting around doing nothing. Of the other 2 I would go for the 09. Less, money, less mileage. All down to condition and service history.

Yep, 2009 one for me for exactly the same reasons.

Sitting around doesn't do them any good

Well thanks!-took your advice and bought the 2009.  Picked it up this morning in Fort Myers Florida and rode it across the state to West Palm Beach.  A nice 2-1/2 ride.  What an easy bike to ride!  Very stable and comfortable, and cruise control is awesome.
