Rear suspension bolt stuck.

Changing the springs on my 2009 bike. Front one, which I thought would be a pain went like a dream. Got the rear top bolt loose, but the bottom one doesn't want to play ball. Initially I tried using a breaker bar and a T50 size torx bit. I've tried soaking with penetrating oil, in the gaps between the casting and shock absorber. Heat doesn't appear to help much either; although you have to be careful as you can only apply heat at the bolt head. Next up was an impact driver and a 2 1/2lb lump hammer. Still no movement. So I am continuing to soak with oil and have now ordered a air impact wrench, which I hope can deliver the torque to remove this stubborn bolt. I have a brand new one to replace it; if I could only remove the bl@*dy original one! Any input would be much appreciated.

Done that, Been there, Got the teeshirt. See "Front Shock Removal Problem" further down the list. Your problem does sound similar to mine, although mine involved the Front shock bolt. Took me two days to remove.

Cheers bud, I've tried acetone also. Going to heat the magnesium unit with halogen lamps tomorrow to help the alloy expand and then use a impact wrench to help to ease the bolt out. The air temp is very cold at present causing the alloy housing to grip the steel bolt tight. I'm hoping heat will help the alloy to adopt a more relaxed state.  Fingers crossed.
