I have this pump but I can't operate it using the bikes hella socket,  instead I have to go direct to battery

The screw on adapters to extend the valve are an MOT failure in the UK
My trusty K75S has had a screw on adaptor on the rear wheel for years and always passes MOT. I remove the front one and keep it in my pocket for use on a VFR. Given that some folk think there's a safety issue here I will remove the rear one and keep that pocketed as well. Cheers each,

I think the safety issue is if you add anything to a rubber valve stem. If the rubber valve has not been replaced for a while and gets perished then the extra weight of the right angle adaptor with the centrifugal force could break it off, causing a blow out.

I recently replaced a tyre for a mate and fitted a new rubber valve. To get the old valve out I was going to cut it off but as I did so it just broke off in my hand. The rubber was perished and it was only a matter of time and it was going to fail. I was a little gob smacked ! It reminded me how I like metal valves.

No problem,
As mentioned above, probably very wise to run the pump direct from battery, I fitted another Hella/Powerlet  socket wired direct to the battery through a 10 Amp fuse.
