Right angle tyre valve adapters

Had to adjust tyre pressures in my recently acquired R1200RT was very impressed with Mr. BMW fitting the valve in the front wheel spoke, but less so with rear as I could not get the connector on my airline to fit. Has anyone fitted the right angled valve adapters to their bike and what are your thoughts please?

Yes but only fitted to pump tyres up and then removed. My foot pump doesn't seem to like the short length of the valves. It keeps popping off.

Get yourself a pump with a screw on fitting rather than the traditional lever type. Much easier all round IMO  :)

The screw on adapters to extend the valve are an MOT failure in the UK, if left on the valve (so I was told when I had them on my last bike).  The centrifugal force could rip out a traditional rubber value fitting!  Not sure it could do the same to a BMW value, but as already mentioned, they should be use to inflate the tyres and then removed.

Just swap to an LC.  Problem doesn't exist.

Mine is a LC. The valve stems are quite short and my old foot pump doesn't like them. My compressor works fine but it has a different type of fitting to that of my foot pump.

I agree, my regular pump won't connect to my LC valves, so I use a right-angle adaptor.  Carry one on the bike at all times too...

Mine does.  Bought in Tesco for £2.99.

See - there's my mistake.  Paid too much...

??? Huh??? Can't fit a standard shrader valve pump connector onto an LC tyre valve. I use a trusty ol' stirrup (bicycle) pump to top up the pressures with no problem, and the portable air compressor fits a treat as well..... :)

That's the one.  Goes in a treat every time.  Two pumps and your done.

Thanks for the replies gents

*Tango- where can I get a fitting with screw thread?

*Nobby- have checked VOSA mot guidelines and cannot see that a valve extender is a failure point?

*RTman10 - right I'm off to buy a new bike now lol.

The fitting on the pump I purchased to keep on the bike has a screw type fitting, the pump was not expensive, will dig out info tomorrow and put a piccy up to show how easy it is to fit. I have not looked around for an after fit fitting to replace the lever type.

Hope that makes sense, been a long day in the sunshine  8)
