GARMIN 660/BMW Nav IV AND BASECAMP
GARMIN 660/BMW Nav IV AND BASECAMP
I have just been told that a Nav IV bought new in April 2013 will not accept custom routes from BASECAMP. The owner had contacted Garmin and was advised the 660 is no longer compatible with the latest version of BaseCamp . They did give him a link to overcome the problem which was Windows only and he has MAC.
Anybody else come across this and solved the problem?

I have no problems transferring routes from BaseCamp (Version 4.4.7) to my 660.

Two yrs ago I had the same problem with Basecamp and a new Zumo 660, so I went back to Mapsource which to be honest I found more user friendly.
I contacted Garmin and was told basically the same they sent me a E mail
" Since Basecamp is technically not compatable in transferring routes to this model of Zumo, the process can be hit or miss. it may work for some routes and not for others. I would recommend using the Mapsource program and see if that program tranfers all the routes successfully"
So I did and it did, bloody marvelous : not speak: :not speak:

Used to use Mapsource, but didn't think there was a version for Mac, so if you used it you had to run a MS instance.

Have had a look at Garmin UK , there is no Mapsource my more. So if you haven't kept it it's probably gone forever.

Garmin sent me a link to download Mapsource, (I will see if I can type this right)

I've read somewhere on here that Garmin didn't support MapSource anymore.step2534 wrote:Garmin sent me a link to download Mapsource.

I think that's correct. If you look at Garmin.com there is no mention of MapSource. The link is probably to something that they already had.
I disliked BaseCamp when it first arrived but now find it better.
If you dig deep you will find the last update to Mapsource was in Oct 2010.
