In Ingleby Barwick, there are still houses being built, the two maps below from MapSource show the updates from 2014 to 2016 around Barwick Lane.

That will be when you update your maps you also update your loaded Mapsource but there seems to be no direct support from Garmin since Oct 2010. Does the update you have show a version number which would indicate it's a full Garmin update to the system. The link Step2534 gave just gives you Garmin, I couldn't find any link to download Mapsource.

You can still buy the Mapsource disc from Amazon.  My current Mapsource is showing version 2016/2

That link I put on was from about 22 months ago (things just keep moving on so I guess it doesn't work anymore)

WHY do they make it so so complicated I joined a Garmin forum which is very good , the only problem is they talk (or a lot do ) in computer speak and I find it difficult to follow.

Every time Ive upgraded I cant get the maps to unlock, get in touch with Garmin, "Oh we will send you a link to download it looks like its missing from your file"
Why??    It does me head to be honest :))

All the links are suggesting give up Mapsource and swap to BASECAMP.  I agree.

Some folks prefer MapSource over BaseCamp & vice versa, it's nice to have the choice.

I'm a bit new to the whole route planning thing. So Mapsource and Basecamp are Garmin and BMW offerings providing similar functions and features? I picked-up my 660 secondhand without any route planning software. Doing a Google search I came across 'tyre' and for a few euros got a life time license. Whilst I've no experience of the other apps I would recomnend 'tyre' for 660 users. The garmin interface works great and the application links directly to the likes of google earth and booking.com. I've just finished doing the routes for a 12 day tour of Italy and all loaded onto the 660 witout ptoblem. Furthermore tyre runs directly from usb so I can make any changes on tour if required. Happy day : )

I have spent many a happy hour or 4 messing around with Basecamp. I find the app a pain in the rear. But if I do manage to get a route into the sat nav, it works ok.

By year 2 I found it a breeze.  I do all the routes for Pidcock tours on it.  Even though I have the latest version of BaseCamp the routes have downloaded to about 20 units from 550s, 660s IVs and Vs all with no problems.  It seems odd that for some there's a problem. I heard today that  Sena SMH5 is not compatible with the 660/IV.  This is with the latest software installed.

A reason to stick with Scala, used my Packtalk today with my other half for the first time. Worked brilliantly. As for base camp, my problem seems to be, when doing a route, getting it to stop making random decisions. Probably user error. But I have worked in IT for 30 odd years, just don't tell my customers.
