A trick I use is wrap the exhaust pipe under the filter with some tin foil (aluminium foil) before removing filter. Keeps oil off the hot exhaust pipe and so requiring no clean up.

I have now fitted a Stahlbus quick drain valve instead of drain bolt, so oil changes are even quicker and cleaner.

Filter can be removed and replaced without removing plastic.

With difficulty on LC bike. Its only three screws to remove lower fairing. Easy to remove and just as easy to put back on. First task in BMW Manual is to remove lower fairing.

I am new to the board. I purchased a used 2014 R1200RTW and it is getting close to time for my first oil change. I have read posts where people mention using Rotella T6, but I checked out a jug today and it does not say JASO MA2, am I missing something or does the oil not meet the specs?

If you read the Shell blurb it would appear to be designed more fir diesel engines. Would suggest you stick with what the manufacturer recommends.

After doing some research (Google), it seems that Shell Rotella T6 is available in the US, yes it's aimed at the automotive sector not for motorcycle use.
However, it can be used in pre-LC RT's with a dry clutch, (like a car or truck).
The JASO MA2 spec. is for wet clutches, like in the LC RT.
Don't think Shell do a 5w-40 for the LC's but Castrol do, otherwise, it's pay a premium for the BMW branded stuff (made by Shell).
