Cleaning the windshield

Post by siclmn »

Somewhere I read that you can lock the windshield in the up position by doing something. Does anybody know how? I don't want to have the key on when I do it.

I wish. As far as I'm aware there is no provision for this. Another little oversight. Sometimes I wonder if manufacturers every ride the bikes they make in the real world.

Whats auto-retract all about anyway ?

The only reason I could think of is to stop the mechanism seizing should it be rarely used  :-\

Doesn't happen on my ST1300. I think they do it because it looks cool. On the K1600 it locks the SatNav. Oh I forgot we don't have that option. Needs a menu option to disable auto-retract.

I wash the windshield with 100% nonabrasive car wash liquid, first dry with micro fiber towel, then turn on key, raise windshield, use electric leaf blower followed by final touch up with micro towel
No issue with having key on for a short time
