Fitting OEM (DRL) Spotlights to 2015 R1200RT LC ?

Post by iRider »

Hi Guys,

after much reading about the various options for fitting a pair of additional front spotlights / daylight running lights to my 2015 R1200RT LC, I decided to get the OEM version.

I have ordered them from my dealer to fit myself but I reading differing information on whether I will then have to get the software changed the dealers to activate them?

The items on order are a pair of OEM spotlights or as they are listed on the invoice 'headlights' as per the following list;

C63.17.8.532.147    Headlight  x2
C63.17.7.721.318    Bracket  x2
C06.32.7.657.949    Screw  x4
C07.12.9.907.398    Fillister  x2
C07.12.9.905.826    Hex Nut  x2
C63.17.8.541.630    Holder  x1
C63.17.8.541.631    Bracket  x1
C07.12.9.907.381    Fillister  x2
C61.31.8.533.473    Switch  x1

The final item (Switch) is actually the switch on the handlebars and the full loom that plugs into the back of each light.

Has anyone else fitted the above items themselves, (specifically the switch and loom assembly) and if so are there any instructions on routing it please?

Mark.

Looks right, and yes - you need to visit your dealer to "enable" the controller inside the switch.
This so the computer onboard your bike can "talk" to the small but still there - computer inside the switch-unit.

Thanks STeinar, have you done this yourself? is the cable routing pretty straight forward?

Yes - no problems, but be careful when routing the cable to the right light - so it's not in interfering with anything.

Just in case the dealer hasn't told you, are you aware that if you have the Headlight Pro fitted the lights will only work when you select dip beam.

Mine must have been connected wrong then, because mine still work on full beam and I have headlight pro fitted!

Do they still work when on the Angel Eyes are on?

What they do is if you are on DRL they won't work.  You need the main headlights on and this dulls the Angle Eyes.  So you ride with very bright angle eyes or main headlights and spots.

Yes that is what is happening, the Angel eyes dim and main headlight on. But they stay on with dipped and main beam.

They didn't mention it but I don't have it anyway :-) thanks for the heads up though.
