A RBLR member posted this on a.n.other Forum.

"Anyone's welcome on the run guys.

Assemble 0700hrs on the 1st Jul at Durham Cathedral. Drum beat at 0728hrs to signify the explosion at Lochnagar. 2 min silence then a whistle that was actually at the Somme will be blown to signify the troops going over the top. The whistle will be passed to the Riders who will take it on the (whistlestop?) tour around the North. Route at the top.

There'll be various stops along the way, as members and public will gather, the whistle will be blown, a moment taken and then the ride continued.
I now can't make it as heading away to work tonight, but would encourage everyone to try and see a piece of it. There's also a German shell casing full of Soil from the Somme going along.

The riders will hopefully get a couple of hours rest at the Don Bar, then at 0900hrs on the 2nd they'll gather along with members of the local DLI association, RBL, etc and after that it'll head back to Durham for a final service and laying up of the shell case.

We will remember them."
