LOW Seat Choices w/Comfort

Hello fellow BMW riders. Any thoughts on the best seat for a vertically challenged RT (WC) rider? Using the factory low seat, which only allows me to place on foot completely flatfooted and it is not very comfortable. I know that Russell Day Long seats are the gold standard but they are too tall for me, unfortunately. How is the Sargent low seat? I know it is a 1/2" taller than the BMW low seat but the extra comfort may be worth it. It would appear to be the best alternative given the circumstances but thought I would reach out to see you have any better suggestions. Thank you!

Same problem leg wise with me.  I use the OEM low sear and yes it's a bit on the firm side but to date have done over 450 miles in a day and was back to normal within 10 minutes of getting off.  Think you will find that any of the so called comfort seats , although quoted as being not much taller are all wider and that's the problem.

I'm 5'5" and have had Sargent low seats on my 08 GS, 07 SV 650, and 14 RT. Like them all.

Thank you guys for the replies.

pbsrides any chance that you had the factory low seat on your RT or perhaps sat on one for awhile?  If so, do you recall if it was much lower or narrower than the Sargent?

Thanks again!

No, I went straight to Sargent after riding the stock seat for a few months. Call them, I think they'll give you 30 days to return. They are well designed, narrower up front so you can get your feet down and there's a channel down the center to relieve stress on the tailbone or some such thing.

Actually, I waited because they did not yet have a low seat. I was on the wait list for its release so I may have the first one, certainly one of the first Sargent low seats for RTLC.

Thank you for the replies!  I placed an order with Sargent for a low front seat and rider backrest.  They have a sale this week plus free shipping in honor of the BMW annual meeting in Hamburg, NY.  So I saved a few bucks too!  Thanks again!

They ain't no such thing as a comfy/low seat. I have tried Ultimate, Sargent, Corbin, RDL when they used to make a low Sports seat (not sure if they still do), the wunderlich seat, the BMW low seat...

The closest I have come to a comfy seat that does not raise me above the clouds is Seth Laam seat. Totally excellent. Can't say enough about it. I had three of them: on Concour, a K16, and an RT. This last one is the very best cause I went to Redding and had it made there on the spot.

Thank you for the recommendation, Wethead!  I will definitely check out Seth's seats.  Any insight as to how low they can be made in contrast to the factory seat while maintaining reasonable comfort?

Thank you!

Talk it over with Seth as to what you want and expect, he ll be straight up with you as to what he can do for you.

I needed a low seat for a concourse and that was about the most comfortable low seat I ever had. He did the same for me with an FJR and a K16.

On the RT, cause it lowered this year, I asked for all out comfort...and sure enough, I don't think RDL has anything better than Seth....

If u can make it to Redding do it. If u do go see him let me know, I ll share with u about motels NOT to stay in near his house
