Paint codes

Post by Alcfire »

Hi again all, finally bought me a BMW R1200RT, 2011 with only 14500 miles, audio, and full BMW service history, only had it 1 week so far and loving it.
I bought it with some scratches on a pannier. My question is, does anyone know the paint codes? The colour of the bike is "Polar Metallic"

Thanks in advance

The paint code for Polar Metallic is M29, as per RealOEM, http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showpar ... Id=51_7926

Color Rite do one, http://www.colorrite.com/wizardresults.cfm

Removing one of the panels should reveal a sticker like this one to confirm the code.

Quite a few screws to remove but outer painted part of pannier comes off
I scratched the black plastic portion of my 1600 panniers at a zero speed get off
Their is a BMW part that's called pannier protection kit fits both 1600 and RTLC added protection and covered my scrapes on 1600
There are a couple companies that produce BMW paint in smaller quantiles, pint size should be more than enough
You can remove, sand, fill and primer the lid. That will save you bunches as painter just has to shoot it

They do.  Made of a rubber compound it covers quite a lot of the lower part of the lid. Depending where your cuffs are it could be a better option than paint.

Thanks for the reply's, the damage on the pannier is on the top front corner and is grazed badley so will need some filling before painting. I see that the painted cover is removable, but cannot see how to remove it, any suggestions welcome
Thanks
