Hmmmm. I found using ear phones instead of helmet speakers quitens things down for me.  ;)

Not using ear plugs on long trips translates to hearing loss...if u don't believe it ask me

I love music and audio so yes I use earplugs PROPERLY INSERTED as I value my hearing almost more than sight...almost...  I say that because I've seen people w/ disposable plugs practically hanging out of their ears, and do not work very well at all unless inserted fully into your ear canals which is tricky to do, but their noise reduction rating is based on that method of use.
