Emergency Key

Post by rickmeister »

G'day! I'm new to this Forum. Just invested in a 2015 R1200RT, with 11,000Km on the clock. For the last 7 years my ride was a 1990 BMW K100LT. Then the R bike came available, and it blew me away!!

Anyway, I have read the riders manual many times, and am trying to come to grips with how the little plastic emergency key works. My ride is a keyless ignition model. The manual says to insert the plastic emergency key in the gap above the display panel, in the centre. Then what do I do? I need advice on this matter in case I lose the real thing.

Thanks in advance,

Rickmeister.

Thanks!! Being a newbie to all this electronic wizardry, I was shoving the wrong thing into the gap above the instrument panel. It works!!

Thanks again.

I had a demo bike for about a month and they couldn't find the key so I was stuck with the plastic one, you only need to poke it into the gap on the dashboard whilst you start it then it will be OK until you need a restart, just don't stall it!
