Hello to all.
A quick note of the thanks to you all for the information I have gleaned from the site. After having a really good read and a weekend in Wales on a demonstrator from Allan Jefferies I have bought myself a 2015 RT LE in ebony black.

I'm finding the bike a little wide to filter on, but I'm sure I will get used to this, the handling and comfort are superb and I can honestly say that I am delighted with the bike.

Thank you again and regards to all.
Dave

Welcome to the forum Dave.

Yes, they are a little wide at first.  Give it a few months, and it will shrink a bit.

Yes, welcome Dave. As they say regarding filtering, if the handlebars fit through the gap, then the panniers will as well....!

My standard panniers are wider than the handlebars?

The gauge of if the bike fits is the mirrors and not the handlebars  :)

Width (incl. mirrors) 982.8 mm (incl. panniers: 984.5 mm)

He meant mirrors.  Approx 41".  Panniers are 38".  Measured with an old tape measure over a cover.

According to BMW you're out by about 70mm (41-38=3" which is 76mm)

Mirrors must be growing under the cover.  It's too cold to go out and remeasure.  let's say if the front goes through the back will surely follow.

I seem to remember when I had my 2010 RT that it was narrower at the front and looking online at a user manual it says it is 905mm with mirrors so it does appear to be narrower at the front so if the front goes through a gap the rear may not with panniers on  :o

No they show as 905-980mm But then again their mirrors are not much good.

Not yet, but they are getting there.
I'll be fine with the filtering in time, but it sure feels a lot wider than the 1200st.
