Thanks ...

I can understand updating the maps frequently but not the software this often.
I'm off on a fortnights holiday soon and I'm now worried that I am going to miss a few updates while I'm away!
I was born with nothing and unfortunately I still have most of it left.

It's only Express.  If there are any more they will be waiting for you when you get back.

My updates always fails halfway through.  I just download the whole thing again every time.  It doesn't loose the device.

Could it have anything do with your firewall or anti-virus?

I sometimes have to snooze my firewall to update some programs

Quite probably, but it's the only thing that does it.  All very odd but not a real problem.

Mine wouldn't update today, just said update failed. I just downloaded express from the garmin site again and it updated. Dodgy software.

That is why there are loads of updates, they release find out they have messed up something and release a dot update. Must be taking software deployment lessons from Apple  8)

I think a lot of the updates for everything internet related is to patch vulnerabilities in software that hackers discover/exploit  :wonder: just my theorybe

True for os software. But for software that perform a service, hacking is not of any real benefit to anyone. Most updates are because software is released then users have issues when using so a dot release is then sent out. Quite often a new release will be at a point  that mostly works but there will still be known bugs, so future releases will be made. Otherwise you would never get software out as there is always something to fix
