The reasons I sold my BMW 49 litre box and went for a Givi 52 litre was that the BMW box weighed a ton, was smaller capacity, and I always found the opening/closing mechanism a bit fiddly. And I could use the Givi box on my other bike too.

The rear racks are different so the fitting plates are different too. I fitted one of these to my 2015 RT LC, replaced a Givi E52. It`s superb.

The Shad top box looks like a reasonable piece of kit to me, Especially as it comes without the BMW over priced cost  ;)  I like the idea of the 'expandable' SH58 as it fits in with the looks of the bike too! I might have gone that route not having a Givi Maxia 56 already, which also matches my bike and my needs perfectly  :)  BMW make great bikes for sure! Aftermarket parts companies make great parts to personalize them to your needs! :-P

The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

That's bigger than my compost bin. Each to his own.  Got a funny feeling that the weight limit on the rear rack is 10kg so never fill it.

the givi trekker outback 58 isn't quite in keeping with the asthetic of the RT, but i guess you dont see it when riding!

Now that is ridiculous. Thankfully it looks like a shop mockup and nobody would do that to a GS.

Thanks, appreciate the info.  Looking at more pictures the back part of the racks are different so that would explain the different mounts. I do personally think the Shad Sh50 looks right at home on the RT. With a backrest and matching blue top for $350 is still a great deal. As long as it doesn't leak I will be a happy camper.

Agreed, but is it owned by a real person.  I suspect the shop just showing off all the kit some slick sales rep got them to buy.

All those GS Charley-Farley riders love those aluminium "desert adventure" style boxes. They are very useful for the trip to Tescos on the ring road that they all do

bit like those RT riders, who actually tour to the shops. I bought my 2014 LC fully loaded last year with a staggering 1500 miles on the clock.

So that's why your exhaust flap stuck.  Hardly moved in 2 years.

Nope, apparently not, one of my mates has just had his exhaust replaced with the same issue, and his is a 2015 which had done many miles. My exhaust flap was diagnosed duff after 6k, so keep an eye on your flaps chaps  8)
