The Haggis Run

After ruminating overnight and doing a little research into the hotel situation in Balloch ie, very little available for the required dates, we have decided to revisit this in the Autumn/Winter to run the event in May 2018. This will give plenty of time for booking a decent hotel in the town rather than some out of town Premier etc.

The planned Haggis run is therefore the 2 night event based in Dumfries visiting Portpatrick via the Dalveen Pass and Galloway Forest Park from Monday July 31st to Wednesday 2nd August. Obviously we will be doing a twisty route there and back and could have a rendezvous at Wetherby( might suit some) or in the  Dales as an initial meeting/end of ride point. Accommodation will be the Premier Inn in Dumfries (free cancellation upto 1300 on the day).

An alternative event will be offered in due course should the weather be against us for Dumfries & Galloway.

Routes available from David or myself.
Book early to avoid disappointment.  8)

I'll book the Premier Inn at Dumfries later & confirm when done so.

Will meet up as arranged on day 1 at the Manor Café in Bellerby near Leyburn & depart on day 3 from Kirkby Stephen.

Same here. Not quite booked it, paid and you know what ala Peter Kay, but near enough.

Sorry chaps but due to family issues and the need to rearrange holidays, am going to have to bale out of the 'Haggis Run' at this time. Priorities and all that. Have cancelled my booking at the Premier Inn accordingly.

Sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it Chris.

Have just checked the PI at Dumfries, they still have rooms available for Monday 31st July & Tuesday 1st August if anyone else would like to join Michael & I.

If you are interested, I've got the BaseCamp routes, Michael & I where thinking of meeting at the Manor Café in Bellerby, near Leyburn on day 1.

We would probably ride together on day 3, as far as Kirkby Stephen, near Brough, before making our own way home from there.

Have mentioned this trip to a non-RT owner, going through the proposed route with him reminded me how good it looks.

If anyone would like a copy, PM me an email address.

Have invited a GS owner, if he turns up, we'll just stick him at the back, they make great TEC's.

Rooms still available at the PI Dumfries.

Having another bite of the cherry on this  as I think it will be a good one.

Have just booked the Premier Inn in Dumfries for 2 nights, 24-26th August, that's Thursday to Saturday for myself and my non forum Welsh wizard mate Mick.

That means there are 2 opportunities to join this event as David and michaelc are going at the end of July.

Anyone wishing to join either event would be most welcome.

'Permits' for a full week are difficult to come by. Also prefer Bank Holidays at home, don't like crowds.

Sooner be on a sunbed in my garden having a beer or three with a smug expression indicating how pleased I am not to be sweating in leathers filtering for miles on the A1 or similar.

Two is more than sufficient for anyone.
