Fuel Leak Recall

Post by PFZelechoski »

2005 1200RT 74K miles. Previous owner did not deal with 2014 Recall.
Fired off note to Motorad, but not sure what kind of response I will get.

Beemer Boneyard has an $80 kit to replace the OEM plastic fittings (sheared
at the tank) with chromed brass. I, however, do not know how to approach replacing the
female coupling in the tank.

Any knowledge and/or instructional guidance would really help.
Would have to truck to dealer if I can't do by self or if recall work accepted.
Think I prefer buying the Boneyard part even if still recall eligible....... if I can install correctly.

A visit to any authorised dealer will confirm the recall history of your bike.  All they need is its VIN number.  Nearly sure they are not time limited.  Probably a waste of time going directly to  Motorrad, they will just tell you to contact a dealer.
