Nav 6 question

Post by Gman1969 »

Hi There
My good lady brought me the Nav 6 which is all very nice, however I saw a while ago someone with a nav 5 that could look at all the stats on the bike through the menu, tyre pressure, avg speed etc does anyone know if this is available on the 6?

Not available on the RT as far as I know. Not on my 2014 model. Maybe someone wth later model can confirm if this has changed. I'm guesing you saw a nav 5 with stats showing on a GS.

Don't know about a Nav 6, but the 5 when taken off my 14 to my 16 MY17 does indeed show all the stats that are available on the GS. It did this automatically without any update to the unit.

I have a 2016 with the Nav V, but I haven't seen it, I'll give it a test tonight.  All of the information you reference is available on the bike menu, via the wonderwheel, so curious why you would want it on the Nav at all?

I'm hoping my new RT will be ready in the next few weeks and will be looking for a sat nav. As the bike comes with the holder prepared, would you advise the latest BMW sat nav 6 and is there a best place to purchase from?

If you go to the UKGSER forum there are quite a lot of threads about the Nav Vi vs the Nav V. Some are saying the 6 doesn't work as well as the 5, but it might just be people are new the Nav setup. I have a V and was considering a VI, but I'm going to wait to see if they issue a software update. But if I was buying for the first time I would probably buy the latest model. Think you can only buy them from BMW dealers.

I understood from my dealer that true MY17 bikes would have this feature for Nav V onwards, I'll have to wait as I am still enjoying my MY15 :-) Peter

Yes I saw it on a GS but have since been told that the GS has a 'pro' mode to the info that the RT does not have but maybe available next model.

As for why, why not, plus I like the bike info all displayed on a big screen and it also gives more stats than what is listed in the standard menu. Looks like the 2019 model will be on order!

I have a 2017 model RT (built in Dec 16) with a Nav V. I was led to believe that the 17 model would have the 'My Bike' app (or whatever it's called) enabled so you can see all the bikes info displayed on the Nav V in the same way you get it on a GS. However this is not the case, the app doesn't show on the Nav V but when I put it on a GS it does, which proves that it's not enabled on my bike. However other people on this forum have said that they do get it on their 17 model RT's. It may just be a software issue but so far my dealer has shrugged it off as my bad luck it's not on my bike. To be honest I'm not that concerned about it but it would be nice to have if it's supposed to be enabled.

The info bit is all a bit odd, some do have it some don't that is nothing to do with the Nav VI though, its the bike software.

Maybe its to do with the bike build date as opposed to when it was bought or registered.

yes not essential and happy to live without it but one of those nice to haves - my dealer said that it is not available on RT's yet as it has a different computer to the GS but this may change on 2019 model
